The first Lockdown was almost four years ago now – almost a thing of history!  The church was closed and everything went online – or just didn’t happen. We began taking it in turns to write a ‘Thought for the Day’; a number of people said how much they valued reading the Thoughts, so, as we emerged from Lockdown we just carried on. Eventually the Thought for the Day became a Thought for the Week with two of the Ministry Team alternating the Thoughts.

Now the church is up and running again, congregations are growing (Alleluia!) and life for us all has got very busy. Our regular services and other activities take a great deal of preparation so we have decided, regrettably, to call a halt to our regular weekly thoughts. We will still post prayers and reflections from time to time, as well as other church news.

I would leave you with two Thoughts – one from St John’s gospel, used regularly in other services,

‘God is love, and those who live in love live in God and He lives in them’

And the wonderful 23rd psalm, which sums up the love and care God has for us all, always

The Lord is my shepherd;

therefore can I lack nothing.

He makes me lie down in green pastures

and leads me beside still waters.

 He shall refresh my soul

and guide me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil;

for you are with me;

your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You spread a table before me

in the presence of those who trouble me;

you have anointed my head with oil

and my cup shall be full.

Surely goodness and loving mercy shall follow me

all the days of my life,

and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
