Planning a funeral is never easy but we are here for you every step of the way. Making the relevant arrangements can be incredibly stressful, especially as you are doing so while processing your loss.

As a Church of England church, our ministers are available to hold a funeral for your loved one in our church or churchyard, at a graveyard, or at the crematorium, regardless of your previous contact with St Peter and St Paul. It does not matter whether you or your loved one have ever attended any church previously; we are here to support you.

When you’re ready, please contact your chosen Funeral Director and let them know you would like a service at St Peter and St Paul, or for one of our ministers to conduct the service elsewhere. They will then make contact with our church office. A minister will then arrange a suitable time to visit and discuss the arrangements, working alongside you in order to make these as personal as possible.

If you need help choosing a Funeral Director then you may wish to look at one that belongs to one of the two trade associations that operates within the funeral business. These are: The National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF) and The National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD).

The death of someone close can affect you in several ways – emotionally, physically, socially and in many practical areas of your life. It can present you with one of the greatest challenges you will ever have to face. Support for the bereaved is offered by the clergy and members of the church family who have a special understanding of bereavement.

If you are nearing the end of your life we can visit you to pray, help you to talk to your family about your wishes and even think about planning your funeral in advance. If you don’t already have contact with one of our clergy please contact our office and we can put you in touch with them.
