Are you newly engaged, or just now ready to set a date?

Congratulations!

We know that wedding days can be one of the most important days in people’s lives. Weddings in the church building have been happening for centuries and we would love to help you make your day as special as it can be. Below you will find all the information you will need to book a wedding with us.

In order to be married at a Church of England church either the bride or groom needs to currently live in the parish or have a qualifying connection. If you live in the parish of St Peter and St Paul then you are automatically connected to us and you are able to get married in our church building – an easy way to check is to go to www.achurchnearyou.com and search for your postcode.

If you don’t live in our parish but would still like to get married at St Peter and St Paul then there are a number of qualifying connections that will allow you to have a wedding with us. Click here to find out more.

One of you may have been married before. Don’t worry if this is the case. We can arrange for you to talk to one of our clergy and they may still be able to help you – either by marrying you or arranging a blessing of your vows after a civil service.

Banns

Banns are a legal requirement in the UK for a wedding in a church building. It is where your names are read out during three church services. It is your declaration of your intent to marry.

If you do not live in our parish and book a wedding with us through a qualifying connection you will need to arrange for your Banns to be read at your parish church as well as with us. We can help you find your local parish church if you are unsure which one it is.

Alternatively, if you live in our parish and are getting married in another parish church, you may need to arrange for your Banns to be read here as well as at the other church. Please contact us to arrange this.

Blessings and vow renewals

We can also help you if you would like to have a blessing after a civil service or if you would like to renew your vows. Please contact us to find out more.
