Jesus Gives us His Mother

Reading – John 19: 26-27

When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing near by, he said to her, ‘Woman, here is your son,’ and to the disciple, ‘Here is your mother.’ From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.

Reflection

John and Mary are together in solidarity bound to one another by Christ through his dying. It is in community that pain and suffering can be worked through. Pray for the church that we would be a fellowship of solidarity as Mary and John were. Pray for Mothers, and for those who feel alone. You will always be welcome in this place.

Prayer:

We adore you O Christ and we bless you,

Because by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world.
